June 2017 | Kult Magazine’s 21st issue, Dreams, is a journey into and through surreal and real dream worlds interpreted by illustrators, designers, photographers, sound and motion artists around the world. The experience of the issue begins with an A-Z Dream Dictionary, which analyses 26 recurring symbols in dreams.
Top Left to Right: A for Alcohol - Fabian Rüther (GER), Circles - Reza Hasni (SG) // Bottom Left to Right: Goldfish - Pei Hsin (SG), L for Lake - Nick Hoong (SG)
For this issue, the reader’s visual foray into the theme expands into even more dynamic landscapes. Kult reached out to motion artists to create digital shorts that captured their dreams in motion.
7 Singapore-based sound artists were also invited to create aural experiences that capture the essence of their dream world. From ambient and acoustic to electronic sounds, each clip can create a cerebral vision unique to a person’s imagination. Click here to tune in.
These video and audio clips were housed on an interactive microsite that was employed not just as an extension of the publication for readers of the issue, but also as a hook for the unacquainted on social media to begin exploring Dreams, and by extension, the world of Kult.
